170 youths benefit from training in Lagos

Cool FM /TV/Wazobia / Nigeria Info in conjunction with Dear Artiste Consult has conducted Broadcasting training recently for over 170 youths from different profession nation-wide.

The one –day seminar held at the Best Western the Island Hotel Victoria Island Lagos aimed at empowering upcoming broadcasters and youth from all over the Federation who want to career in the digital broadcasting without a platform.

The workshop tagged” Basic Radio Masters Class” to train and empower youths and those who want to a career in Broadcasting and to acquired basic and modern knowledge, skills and inspiration that would meet the global standard. The course contents include Radio Presenter training on Basic Presentation, News production, and presentation and voice –over artistry and Broadcasting ethics.

Onimisi Adaba Head of Station Cool /Wazobia /Info FM-spoke on “the Mindset of a Broadcaster” urged participants to have a wholesome knowledge of any the media / station want to operate on such as format, style and sound.

He pointed out other traits that would boost broadcaster’s skills as knowing their personality; learn how to deal with callers or people, humility , be natural, tell a story, be hard working, discipline, and know their passion or calling among other.

Nelly Kalu- on –Air personality Nigeria Info, in her address titled “Show – Prep, Ideas and Research” told the Guardian “Modern broadcasting is fast becoming very glamorous as everybody even those without flair so for it. Many youth want to be on radio or hear more about the profession but with this forum they would now know that beyond the celebrity statue; there is a lot of hard- work and discipline”

Kalu gave some tips to how to be an outstanding presenter, stating that he /she should do a lot researches, read extensively, be hardworking discipline and extra mile to please your listeners/callers.

Star FM broadcaster Adenike Lanlehin spoke on “Passion, Internship and Discipline” lauded the facilitator and organizers for the forum, she urged participants to have passion for the broadcasting because it not likes music or acting but a profession to serve the public or customers
She maintained there are several opportunities opened for participants after training such as networking, internship, mentorship, employment or even becoming job creators unlike their counterparts who are just fresh from school without knowledge, experiences and expertise to enter or break even in the broadcast industry.

It would give them other opportunities to meet –one-on-one or chat with their favorite presenters, on –Air personalities, producers, to network and for mentoring.

He appreciated the effort of organizing team [Cool FM /TV/Wazobia / Nigeria Info and Dear Artiste Consult] described them as “ Agents of positive Change” .

Another beneficiary Temilope , a youth corper, described the workshop as informative, educative and entertaining because she learnt a lot of things she didn’t known before the training . She urged youths to work and build them-selves not waiting for the Government.
