5 Easy Cocktails To Make At Home

It’s another weekend, and no better time to put your feet up and relax with a glass of your favorite cocktail.

Be your own bartender by following these 5 recipes to make your own cocktail at home.

Mojito

Ingredients 

Recipe 

  1. First place mint leaves and a lime wedge into the glass. Next use a muddle and crush to release the mint’s oils and lime juice.
  2. Add the other lime wedges and 2 tablespoons of sugar making sure to crush again to release the lime juice.
  3. Throw in some ice to fill the glass, next add some run, then fill the glass with club soda.
  4. Stir and taste. If need be, you can add a little more sugar.

Margarita

Ingredients 

  • 2 ounces blanco tequila
  • 1/2 ounce Cointreau
  • 1 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 ounce agave syrup
  • Lime wheel to garnish
  • Kosher salt (optional)

Recipe 

  1. Rub a lime wedge around the glass outer rim , next sprinkle a few teaspoons of salt onto a small plate. Dip the rim into salt.
  2. Mix tequila, Cointreau and lime juice into a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker with ice and shake thoroughly for about 15 seconds (or until the metal shaker’s bottom frosts over.
  3. Fill the glass with fresh ice and pour the margarita into the glass. Garnish with lime wheels, kosher salt (optional) and serve.

Martini

Ingredients 

  • 2 1/2 ounces gin
  • 1/2 ounce dry vermouth
  • 1 dash orange bitters
  • Garnish: lemon twist

Recipe

  1. Pour some gin, dry vermouth and orange bitters into a mixing glass, add some ice and stir.
  2. Strain this mix into a chilled cocktail glass.
  3. Finally garnish with a lemon twist.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces citron vodka
  • 3/4 ounce Cointreau
  • 3/4 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 ounce cranberry juice cocktail
  • Garnish: lime wedge

Recipe

  1. Pour vodka, Cointreau, lime juice and cranberry juice into a shaker with ice and shake properly.

  2. Strain the mix into a chilled cocktail glass and serve garnished with a lime wedge.

Long Island Iced Tea

  • 1/2 fluid ounce tequila
  • 1/2 fluid ounce triple sec (orange-flavored liqueur)
  • 1 fluid ounce sweet and sour mix
  • 1 fluid ounce cola 
  • 1 lemon slice

Recipe

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and pour vodka, rum, gin, tequila, triple sec, and sour mix over ice. Cover and shake thoroughly.
  2. Next pour the cocktail into a glass and splash some cola for that dark color.
  3. Garnish with a lemon slice.
