Police Arrest Four Suspected Kidnappers In Adamawa 

The two abducted missionaries at the Parish Rectory of Saint Vincent De Paul Parish in Fier, Catholic Diocese of Pankshin have regained freedom from their abductors.


According to the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Plateau State Chapter, Reverend Father Polycarp Lubo, the priests were released in the early hours of Thursday after spending over three days in the kidnappers’ enclave.

The CAN chairman could not ascertain whether ransom was paid to secure the release of the priests, but said the two priests had been taken to the hospital for medical check-ups.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Plateau State Command, Alfred Alabo, confirmed the release, explaining that no suspects were in police’s custody yet as those apprehended by the local vigilantes to have committed the crime were not handed over to the police. He said the police are still making efforts to get the suspects handed over to them for proper investigation and eventual prosecution.

Meanwhile, the Adamawa Police Command in collaboration with the military on Thursday night arrested four suspected kidnappers for allegedly kidnapping AminuAlhajiShehu and Ali AlhajiShehu of Tudun Wada, Michika Local Council in Adamawa.

The suspects are AbubakarAbdullahi, 39 year-old, a resident of Mubi South Local Council; Ibrahim Garba,  35 years, a resident of AskiraUba Local Council, Borno State; Isa Ahmadu, 30 years, a resident of Dawarsa, Yobe State and BulamaAhmadu, 20 years, a resident of Dawarsa, Yobe State.

In a statement, yesterday, in Yola, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Suleiman YahayaNguroje said that another coordinated crime fighting strategy was carried out in collaboration with Hunters at Gamu Hill.

He pointed out that the operations yielded success as one of the syndicates kidnapping and terrorising residents of Jada, Ganye and villages ofwithin the corridor were neutralised with one AK-47 rifle recovered.

The Assistant Inspector General of Police, AfolabiBabatola, commended his men and all other security agencies that participated in the operations, urging them that the synergy be sustained.
