Ajayi tasks government on student loan, selection

Student Loan Act

Former board member of the Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi (FIIRO), Nicholas Ajayi, has urged the Federal Government to ensure that indigent students benefit from the loan when it eventually kicks off.

Ajayi said better management of the loan will assist indigent students in completing their education, which would go a long way in producing the needed manpower to move the nation forward.

Speaking at the biennial inter-house sports competition of Ageke Primary School, Ejigbo, the All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftain in Lagos State, said the policy is a great step towards the development of education in the country.

On the inter-house sports competition, Ajayi said it allows the school to discover talents, noting that professionals like Falilat Ogunkoya, Mary Onyali and Haruna Quadir, among others, were discovered at such events.

Ajayi also stressed the importance of sports to children’s physical and mental growth.

The head of school, Mrs Victoria Idowu, said the event was geared towards fulfilling one of the cardinal objectives of the school, which is to engage pupils in extra-curricular activities.
