AMVCA 10: Celebrating a decade of African creativity, excellence the Amstel Malta Way

Nigeria’s leading premium malt drink, Amstel Malta, reaffirmed its unwavering support for African film and creativity as the headline sponsor of the 10th edition of the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA).

Held on May 11, 2024, at the Eko Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, the event marked a decade of celebrating excellence in African storytelling.

The two-day event began with a vibrant Culture Day, showcasing the continent’s rich fashion and artistic heritage. This celebration of the best African fashion, music and dance was the perfect prelude to the highly anticipated star-studded awards ceremony, where Amstel Malta continued spotlighting the best of African creativity.

As the headline sponsor, the brand elevated the AMVCA experience with two exciting initiatives. The first, “Amstel Malta Reporter,” granted an aspiring creative a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to interview some of Africa’s biggest stars and nominees. The selected individual experienced the electrifying atmosphere of the biggest night in African film firsthand.

Spreading the excitement ahead of the ceremony, it hosted the “Get Ready With Me (GRWM)” contest. Two lucky winners enjoyed an unforgettable AMVCAs weekend, soaking up the electrifying energy of the culture day and getting face-to-face with industry A-listers at the prestigious awards ceremony.

This year’s edition of the AMVCAs saw Amstel Malta sponsor the Best Overall Movie award, celebrating the pinnacle of African filmmaking. This recognition reaffirmed the brands commitment to empowering and celebrating African creative excellence.

Reflecting on the brand’s successful run as the AMVCAs’ headline sponsor for the 10th year in a row, Elohor Olumide-Awe, Portfolio Manager, Non-alcoholic Brands of Nigerian Breweries Plc, said: “It’s been a true privilege to spotlight African creativity and honour excellence on such a prestigious platform.

Amstel Malta has been a supporter of African storytelling, and our decade-long sponsorship of the AMVCA is a testament. We firmly believe African stories deserve to be seen and celebrated globally. Here’s to another decade of celebrating brilliance, nurturing talent and empowering African stories to shape the global narrative.”

Sponsored by Amstel Malta, the 10th edition of the AMVCA was a resounding success, further solidifying the prestigious award show as a premier platform for recognising and celebrating African creativity and talent. As the continent’s creative scene blossoms, the brand remains resolute in its dedication to spotlighting excellence in African storytelling.
