Anambra police foil attack on police station, demobilise one

Operatives of Anambra State Police Command, yesterday, foiled an attack by armed men at the Ogidi police station in Idemili North of the state.
 
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Anambra State, Ikenga Tochukwu, said his men demobilised one of the hoodlums during a gun duel, adding that they came in large numbers.
 
He said that police did not record any casualty during the gun battle.
 
According to Tochukwu, the police officers recovered many expanded cartridges and 25 litres of PMS. 
 
He said: “Today February 13, by 2:15 a.m., Police Operatives foiled an attack by armed men on the Ogidi Police station, demobilised one of the armed men, and recovered many expanded cartridges and 25 litres of PMS. 
 
“The hoodlums/arsonists came in their numbers with an unmarked Toyota Hiace bus, a Toyota Hilux and three motorcycles, started shooting indiscriminately and attempted to gain access in Ogidi Police Station, Idemili North. 
 
“They were resisted by Police Officers on duty and due to the superior gunfire of the operatives, the hoodlums fled the scene while one of the armed men was neutralized by the operatives.
 
“The Police facility is intact and no casualty was recorded on the side of the Police. 
“The area has been reinforced by the tactical teams of the command, and Police operation is still ongoing, adding that further details shall be communicated.”
