FCMB’s female workers raise support for schools
The women staffers of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has feted a total of 1,000 underprivileged kids in primary schools in Lagos, Kano and Delta states as part of efforts to support the bank’s corporate social responsibility initiative.
The gesture followed the donation of school bags filled with educational materials to each of the school children by the female members of staff of the bank.
The materials include notebooks, pens, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, crayons, while dictionaries were also distributed to help with language usage and grammar.
The three schools that benefited from the gesture are Alaba Primary School, Mushin in Lagos; Ugbolokoso Primary School and Ijakpa Primary School, both in Warri, Delta State, as well as Zango Primary School, Kano State.
FCMB’s Vice President, Human Resources and Strategy, Felicia Obozuwa, restated the bank’s commitment to the educational development and welfare of children.
‘’Beyond celebrating the Children’s Day, this gesture on the part of FCMB Women and indeed the Bank is aimed at inspiring our young ones to become great men and women. A school bag is quite symbolic.
“It gives a child confidence, and makes them enjoy going to school, to get the much needed education, which gives them hope for a bright future. Unfortunately, there are so many children out there who do not get to go to school with school bags and do not have adequate educational materials. We are committed to do the little we can to help correct this condition’’, she stated.
The Head Mistress of Alaba Primary School, Mushin in Lagos, Mrs. Olukemi Taiwo, expressed immense gratitude to FCMB Women, while re-emphasizing the deep appreciation of her teachers, pupils and their parents for the donation.
