The Delta State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has sacked six aides over alleged corrupt practices with four others said to be on the waiting list.Sources told The Guardian that the sacked aides might have taken the governor for granted by their actions.

On of the casualties is his protocol officer, Temple Mudi, John Tom Ona, who was relieved of his post as the Chairman of the Agency for Adult and Non-Formal Education in the state for allegedly ‘romancing’ Ali-Modu Sheriff faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) led executive and one Felix Akah, a Special Assistant on agricultural development including two others whose names could not be ascertained as at the time ofgoing to the press.

John Tom Ona was alleged to have been discussing with Dr. Cairo Ojougbo, a leader in the Ali-Modu Sheriff camp on how to ensure 2019 usher in a new PDP candidate as governor.

But in a swift reaction, John Tom Ona denied all the allegations against him, saying that he was a victim of political vendetta and tissue of lies.Sources with Government House in Asaba said Governor Okowa top agenda for 2017 is how to placate aggrieved party members, especially those warning up to edge him out of the 2019 second tenure.

While horse trading for 2019 has commenced in full swing, it was reliably gathered that the governor had allegedly perfected ways for Mr. Godwin Elumelu to return to the House of Representatives, and Mrs. Joan Amechi Mrakpor presently occupying the House of Representatives for Aniocha-Oshimili Constituency to take over from Senator Peter Nwaobushi.

But the Secretary to the State Government, (SSG) Mr. Ovie Festus Agas who confirmed the sack of John Tom Ona, and others, said they were sacked for over bearing offences, adding that Governor Okowa will not fold his hands to lawlessness and allow it to thrive.

While four others whose names could not be confirmed by our reporter and are secretly kept out of the press, are said to be on the waiting lists for allegedly committed almost the same offences with the sacked ones, it was reliably gathered that the Governor was allegedly poised to ‘cut down trees’ that may likely barricade his threshold to second tenure 2019.
