Purple Capital appoints MacLennan as board member

Nigeria’s specialist investment, private equity and real estate firm, Purple Capital Partners Limited, has appointed international property developer, Hamish MacLennan to its board.

As Associate Director for Real Estate, MacLennan will provide strategic counsel and leadership for Purple Capital’s real estate investments in the sub-Sahara Africa region and drive the firm’s ongoing projects in its Retail, Entertainment and Lifestyle (REL) portfolio.

A registered member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, MacLennan has a wealth of experience spanning over 35 years’ in Value Engineering, Construction and Projects Management, Facilities Management and Property Development across Africa, having led the execution of a diverse array of buildings and real estate asset classes in Nigeria, South Africa, Lesotho, Mozambique, Tanzania, Ghana and Malawi.

Having previously consulted for market leaders Aecom and WSP, he brings to Purple Capital the invaluable benefits of his global experience, deep knowledge of project dynamics and relevant exposure to West Africa’s real estate landscape.

His project portfolio credentials in Nigeria include retails centers, offices and hotels, such as the Ado Bayero Mall in Kano; Jabi Lake Mall and Centenary City in Abuja; and numerous projects in the commercial city of Lagos, namely: the Ikeja City Mall in Alausa, The Palms Mall in Oniru, Four Points by Sheraton Hotel also in Oniru, and the Oando Wings in Victoria Island.

Besides he is expected to also lead the development and project delivery team at Purple Capital’s flag ship retail development, the Maryland Mall, in Maryland, Lagos. Opening its doors to the public later this year, the Maryland Mall will transform the hugely underserved retail landscape of mainland Lagos, with positive spin-offs to the economy of the state.
MacLennan a certified Quantity Surveyor, Project and Construction Manager is a graduate of the University of Natal (now University of KwaZulu-Natal), South Africa.
