Rabiu among 100 Africa 2017 future business leaders
The Group Executive Director of BUA Group, Kabiru Rabiu, has emerged second on the ‘Choiseul 100 Africa’ list of future African Business Leaders for 2017.
He came after an Egyptian, Basil El Baz, who emerged number one. A renowned French economist and political think-tank based in Paris in partnership with, Jeune Afrique, a leading publication, gave the ranking that included 10 Nigerians but which placed Rabiu in the top 10.
The annual compilation by the French Institute was carried out through an independent study that identifies profiles and ranks young African business leaders under the age of 40 from any of the 54 African countries across various sectors, who would play a major role in the development of the continent in the near future.
To classify the 100 leaders of the future, the Choiseul Institute, through its panel of experts used five criteria namely: Image and reputation, path and skills, power and function, influence and networks, as well as potential and leadership.
An astute strategist, Kabiru joined the family business in 2002 upon completion of his studies as an Assistant General Manager of the Nigerian Oil Mills in Kano.
He rose through the ranks to become the company’s General Manager and later Managing Director of BUA Oil Mills, Lagos.
He became BUA Group’s Executive Director in 2010 with the responsibility for overseeing strategy, operations and growth.
Founded in 1988 by his brother and billionaire industrialist, Abdulsamad Rabiu, BUA Group is one of the largest conglomerates in Africa.
