Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has scored his administration high in education and other sectors, just as he promised to leave the state better than he met it in January 2016.

Bello said this at the 2013/2014 combined convocation of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, at the weekend, where he, alongside six others, became fellows of the polytechnic for his outstanding performance on infrastructure and human capital development.

Others, who bagged fellowship of the institution, include Ozi Salami for sinking several boreholes and for granting scholarship to several students of the school.

Similarly, Umoru Jimoh of IHS, Prof Idris Bugaje of National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and Moses Okafor were also made fellows of the institution.

Bello said part of his achievements was evidenced in the repositioning of the polytechnic to meet 21st century challenges. He said: “My achievements can be attested where the state polytechnic was before my assumption of office, where it is now and what we have repositioned it to for the future.

“We have taken time to look into the education of our people. We made education a top priority in our thematic agenda. We not only improved the infrastructure and learning in our tertiary institutions, but also expanded our educational institutions, so that our children will not travel far to seek knowledge within four years of our second term.”

The governor paid glowing tributes to the Rector of the institution, Dr Salisu Ogbo, saying his outstanding achievements made the polytechnic an institution of envy. He described the institution as worthy of emulation across the world.

In his remarks, Ogbo described his appointment by Bello as an uncommon privilege, and thanked him for finding him worthy to serve. While 249 bagged Distinctions, 11,080 had credits and passes.
