Firm automates operations to improve service delivery
A technology-driven courier firm, Speedie Nigeria, has begun operations to reduce man-hours for efficient and secured delivery of parcels.
Speaking during the launch, Director, Speedie Nigeria and Genrosys Tech, Mark Odeigah, said the platform partners with investors, providers of delivery services and end users, adding that it will help create more job opportunities.
He added that the mobile courier platform is a marketing strategy to link the traditional system to the digital, targeting dispatch riders and senders, and guarantees same day delivery.
Odeigah noted that 15 per cent of the delivery fee would be charged on each delivery.
“This serves as advertisement and maintenance fee for service providers using the platform. We don’t own bike but we bring rider and users together. People usually complain of poor service delivery and have trust issues with some courier services, this we have come to solve.
“Also, some people are confused on the delivery company to patronise. We have simplified this process with the use of technology that both sender and dispatch rider can access,” he added.
Odeigah said riders on the platform are from investors and service delivery firms that need a market. “The dispatch rider while in transit would get a notification if there is any parcel he can pick and deliver along his route. The dispatch rider can decide to pick the parcel or pass it on. The platform is that flexible,” he added.
Another special feature of the mobile app, he said, is the tracking system that enables the sender track his parcel from pick up to delivery in real time.
In his words: “We work with trusted dispatch rider to ensure maximum security of goods. For now, we pick goods of 15kg and we are sure to deliver. We do a background check on every rider on our platform and in any case of loss we have an insurance policy to cover that up.”
On how the platform works, he said one can log on from the App or the web page, indicate the pick-up and drop off location and the system will locate a dispatch rider on the platform that is closest to the pick-up location to fulfill the delivery request.
Head of Business at Speedie Nigeria, Tamiu Ajibola, said the platform is flexible and allows the rider decide which parcel he picks at a particular time after getting the notification.
“We have regular update, monitor riders pick up and cash paid the rider,” he stated.”
