NSE’s All-share index sustains rising profile, up by 1.6%

nigerian_stock_exchangeFollowing price gains recorded by most blue chip stocks, the bulls maintained dominance on the equity sector of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, resulting in a further rise in All-share index by 1.6 per cent

Yesterday, the All-share index rose by 1.6 per cent or 419.46 points, from 25,396.83 recorded on Wednesday to 25,816.29 while market capitalisation appreciated by N144 billion or 1.6 per cent from N8,736 trillion to N8880 trillion.

On the activity chart, the banking subsector remains the most active stock in volume terms with 93 million shares worth N660 million while the conglomerates followed with 14.9 million units valued at N19.9 million. The food products subsector ranked third with 14.3 million shares worth N42 million

In all, investors exchanged 317 million shares worth N2.2 billion in 3,335 deals.

Dangote Cement topped the gainers chart with 8.00 kobo to close at N168.00 per share. CAP followed with 1.78 kobo to close at N37.56 per share. PZ Cussons added 1.10kobo to close at N24.10 per share. Dangote Sugar gained 0.50 kobo to close at N5.99 per share.

Unilever gained 0.50 kobo to close at N27.50 per share. Cement Company of Northern Nigeria added 0.47 kobo N9.00 per share. Zenith Bank and African Prudential garnered 0.31 and 0.27 kobo per share. Access Bank added 0.20 kobo to close at N4.36 per share.

United Bank for Africa also gained 0.20 per cent to close at N3.18 per share. United Capital and Diamond Bank garnered 0.14 kobo to close at N1.59 and N1.54 per share. Oando gained 0.12 kobo to close at N3.49 per share. Ecobank TransNational Incorporated gained 0.11 per cent to close at N18.12 per share. West African Portland Company also added 0.10 per cent to close at N82.10 per share.

However, Seven Up led others on the losers’ chart with 8.50 kobo to close at N161.50 per share. Seplat followed with 2.78 kobo to close at N349.52 per share. International Breweries lost 0.38 kobo to close N18.50 per share. Nigerian Breweries dropped 0.20 kobo to close at N98.20 per share.

Air Service shed 0.11 kobo to close at N2.18 per share. Custodian & Allied insurance and Eterna oils shed 0.04 kobo to close at N3.86 and N1.86 per share respectively. FBN holdings dropped 0.03 kobo to close at N3.62 per share.
