“We call on the government as a matter of urgency to put in place policies that will cushion the unbearable impact of the on going recession. The time has come for the government to put in place a vibrant economic team that would collaborate with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), National planning, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Ministry of Industry,Trade and Investment and even the Federal Ministry of Agriculture now that we are talking about diversification.”
Mr Fasehun stressed that like the Biblical Joseph, “this is the right time to cultivate the habit of savings and shun all forms of wastages, saying, “even amidst recession, Nigeria can still save for the years ahead.
He pointed out that in doing this, “it is time to see strict compliance to the usage of the TSA. States should be allowed to explore their respective natural resources so as to be self sufficient”.
On the anti corruption war of President Mohammadu Buhari, the group urged the All Progressive Congress (APC) administration to make the war total by ensuring that there was no sacred cow in the crusade.
“While we commend the anti corruption war, we emphatically stress that there should be no sacred cow irrespective of ethnic, religious or party affiliation This is the time for the judiciary to convince Nigerians that it is the last hope of the common man”
The association while emphasizing that the “issue of inconclusive cases and incessant adjournment should be looked into added that “recovery of looted fund is one of the areas needed at this time to inject substantial fund into the economy”.
“Nigerians wants to see that looters are sanctioned appropriately according to the law and that the recovered funds are judiciously used.
