Cinematographers society of Nigeria admitted to federation of cinematographers

John Aduloju

There is good news for the Nigerian motion picture industry from Vienna, Austria where the Extra Ordinary General Assembly of the International Federation of Cinematographers (IMAGO) was held, during the week. The good news is that the Cinematographers Society of Nigeria (CSN) has been admitted into the world body for cinematographers. Breaking the news to Moviedomextra, the National President of CSN John Aduloju, who attended the General Assembly disclosed that his visit to Vienna for the event was to introduce the Nigerian body to the international body, which houses 55 guilds of cinematographers. “And 44 of the guilds were in attendance at the Image Extraordinary General Assembly dubbed IEGA 2023, where the CSN was admitted as a full member unopposed.”

Aduloju added that the admission of CSN into IMAGO is a big win for CSN. “It is a big win as our admission and our full membership status will put us on the world stage with the showcase of our best quality works from Nollywood. This is, however, a clarion call to all cinematographers who are members of the CSN to up their game in terms of quality of work and skill acquisition to remain relevant,” Aduloju said.

The award-winning cinematographer also spoke of plans to restructure the CSN to meet IMAGO expectations. He said: “The CSN will proceed after this admission to restructure and start a new categorisation of membership to meet IMAGO’s expectations. But let it be known that CSN is now a member of the International Federation of Cinematographers.”
