Addressing journalists on the forthcoming third anniversary of Dickson Adekunle Awode Memorial lecture and the 10th anniversary of the District, the members said that Nigerians are no longer safe, adding that the church is also not left out.

Specifically, Chairman of the Committee, Senior Special Apostle Sola Opadare, stated that the church is vulnerable and has become target of attack by hoodlums.

To this end, he disclosed that the church is convening a security meeting titled, “Safety of Worship Centres: The role of church leaders in contemporary Nigeria” to be delivered by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo of Nigeria Police Force Annex, Lagos.

Noting that it crucial for government to provide infrastructural development, Opadare observed that the Nigeria’s population is increasing but the infrastructure is declining.
While stating that Nigerians are not lazy, the cleric said there is hunger in the land. He said farmers are scared of going to farms for fear of being attacked.

According to him, “public office holders must take the pain to know what the masses are saying. They should know the feelings of the people.”

To bridge the gap between younger and older generations in terms of morals and godly values, he said another lecture titled, “C&S tomorrow: Equipping our youths for leadership responsibilities”, would be delivered by Professor Sunday Kayode Ajitoni, Faculty of Education, University of Ibadan.

Opadare said there would also be an empowerment programme that is aimed at addressing poverty and assisting members in meeting their basic needs, where one hundred beneficiaries would receive N100,000 each.
