Don’t plunge Osun into violence, Adeleke warns transport unions, suspends SSA

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, yesterday, warned transport workers in the state against actions and activities capable of plunging the state into violence and lawlessness.

He also ordered immediate suspension of his Senior Special Assistant on Civil Societies, Emmanuel Adebisi, pending the outcome of his probe by the Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Kazeem Akinleye.

Although no reason was given for the suspension of Adebisi, The Guardian learnt that his suspension was as a result of an alleged diversion of 70 bags of rice intended for Osun civil societies during the Eid-el-Kabir festival celebration.

In a statement by Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke has also directed the Commissioner for Transportation to again summon a reconciliatory meeting of all the warring groups within the transport sector.

BUT reacting to his suspension, Adebisi described the development as untrue, saying: “That I have been suspended and removed from a WhatsApp group are categorically false.

“I will continue to serve diligently in my capacity as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Osun State, with unwavering commitment to my responsibilities. Any insinuation of my involvement in misconduct, particularly relating to the alleged diversion of 70 bags of rice intended for Osun Civil Societies during the Eid-el-Kabir festival, is entirely baseless and without merit and the handwork of some bitter political fools and I challenge anyone with facts on this to bring them out.”

MEANWHILE, the Osun State Transport Management System (OSTMS), yesterday, condemned the recent attack on its secretariat by some disgruntled elements within the union in conjunction with hired hoodlums.

The state’s Secretary of OSTMS, Mukaila Popoola, during a media briefing, said that hired hoodlums carted away cash and tickets valued at N6,450,000.
