Easter: FRSC deploys 570 personnel in Delta

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Delta State Command, has deployed 570 personnel on Delta highways, to ensure road safety and quality travel time during Easter.

Mr Bassy Eshiet, FRSC Sector Commander, Delta Sector Command, made the disclosure in a statement on Friday in Asaba.

He said hat the Easter special patrol operations would be conducted between Friday and Tuesday.

Eshiet stated that apart from the 570 personnel, comprising regular and special marshals, 13 patrol vehicles, two ambulances, and one tow truck had also been deployed.


The sector commander said the objective of the special patrol was to enhance the command’s visibility on highways .

According to him, the initiative is to ensure a reduction in road traffic crashes, fatalities, and injuries.

“We will ensure strict enforcement of road traffic laws and regulations, prompt rescue and response to distress calls, and speedy removal of obstructions from the highways, among others.


“The command will adopt strategic deployment of personnel and logistics to enhance visibility.

“There will be traffic calming and lane discipline; 24 hour standby rescue and recovery services.”,he said.

According to him,the deployed personnel will ensure free flow of traffic, check speed violations, dangerous driving, use of phone while driving, overloading, and other life-threatening infractions.

“Other offences like failure to carry passengers’ manifest for commercial drivers, refusal to use seat belts, and use of worn-out or expired tyres will not be overlooked as well,” he said.
