Ex-NMA staff needs N30 million for kidney transplant

An administrative officer of Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Akpa Emeka is in need of N30 million to undergo some kidney transplant to save his life.


The Guardian learnt that Emeka was abducted during one of his trips to the southeast.

He, however, began to nurse kidney disease and other health issues after his release from kidnappers’ den.

In June 2023, he experienced a crisis that led to the amputation of his right limb and his kidney failed.


Emeka, who is married with four children, is currently undergoing dialysis twice a week at Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abuja.

He is also seeking a kidney donor and financial support totaling at least N30 million to save his life.

When contacted, the managing consultant and a nephrologist at the FMC, Abuja, Dr, Aniedu confirmed Emeka’s condition.
