Academy assures of developing students’ potential

Founder of City of Knowledge Academy (CKA), Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Mrs. Mosun Belo-Olusoga, has reassured that the school would continue to develop academic potentials of students. She spoke during the formal inauguration of the academy, informing the audience of her desire to instill leadership and ethical behaviour in the students, develop their academic potentials, social awareness, as well as inculcate cultural values in them.

An Economist and a Fellow of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Belo-Olusoga stressed that her passion for knowledge sharing, personal and professional grooming and the quest to transform children into responsible, social responsive, and culturally balanced adults gave birth to the academy.

Wife of Ogun State governor, Mrs. Olufunsho Amosun who was present at the event, said, “From what I can see exhibited in our children here, there is evidence of strong educational, confident, talented future generation”.

“Most of our culture and language are beginning to go into extinction, but we must not allow that.”

Keynote speaker and Chairman, Troyka Group, Mr. Biodun Shobanjo, emphasised the importance of education in helping the individual to keep pace with civilization, exposing him to such knowledge that improves his health, lifestyle and life expectancy. He continued, “It equips him with new skills and capacity for increase productivity thus enhances his social status. It also makes him to be politically aware and relevant so that he can become a better citizen.

“But by far out-weighing the above is the critical role in training the mind and independent reasoning in problem solving and personal decision-making. Until this union of the mind is achieved in an individual he can not be said to be educated as he remains a victim of unhealthy mix, superstition, and practices which hamper progress and breed hatred and disharmony in our world”.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun who was represented by his Deputy, Mrs. Yetunde Abosede Onanuga, said, “Education is believed to be the brain behind every successful society. It is the most visible vehicle of transformation in any society. That is why our administration has continued to give priority to education.

The Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, pledged to support the school, and challenged other Ijebu sons and daughters, saying, “What you have done is a great challenge to all of us Ijebu.”
