Ford Motor Co. on Tuesday, unleashed the all new-all 2018 Mustang with a sleeker, curvier design of the iconic muscle car that the automaker promises has better performance than previous models.

But not very many Nigerians can own it, as the ‘machine’ may go on sale for about N26 million when it finally arrives in the later part of the year.

Last year, Ford’s franchise dealer in Nigeria, Coscharis Motor, sold only four units, a sign that the country’s economic slump really limited purchasing power of most car lovers.

Despite the economic situation, Coscharis Motor, confirmed that the premium car, which was originally based on the platform of the second generation North American Ford Falcon, would touch soil in Nigeria later this year.

Not very many new models of vehicles entered the Nigerian market last year, but Ford President for Middle East & Africa, Jacques Brent, had said: “We have been very keen on continuing to launch vehicles into this particular market. Though the market is challenged but by and large, Nigerians look forward to buying Ford models and we would continue to bring technology and vehicle into the market to support requirements from the customers’ perspective.

What’s new in 2018 Mustang?
Ford’s remarkable changes in the 2018 Mustang included changing its engine options and offering a slew of new tech and a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The biggest change may be the loss of the current entry-level V6 engine, which has been available in the Mustang for decades.

The 2018 Mustang also debuted with new front-end styling and is lower to the ground.

Ford isn’t turning its back on the V8 5.0-liter engine for its quintessential American muscle car. The GT variant of Mustang will have the V8 as well as more low-end torque and power in high rpm ranges—though no word from Ford yet on the number of horses in its marquee pony.

Both the four cylinder and EcoBoost are available in 6-speed manual and a new 10-speed automatic. While muscle car purists will opt for the manual, sports shifting modes on the 10-speed will keep the engine singing at higher rpm ranges before shifting up.The 2018 Mustang will be available this fall with pricing to be announced.
