Administration targets 900,000 children for immunisation
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has qualified to receive $6.8 million to facilitate the ‘Save One Million Lives’ Programme for Result (SOMLP for R) in 2018, the National Programme Manager, Dr. Ibrahim Kana, has said.
Kana stated that the FCT was adjudged to have met the requirements to earn more funds from the programme, as a result of high performance evaluation assessment conducted by SOMLP for R for the 2016/2017-performance index, which placed it as the North Central champion amongst 12 states of the federation.
Kana explained this, yesterday, during his visit to the FCT Secretary, Health and Human Services Secretariat (HHSS), Barr. Amanda Pam, in Abuja.Kana, who was accompanied by the North Central and North East Coordinator, Dr. Okara Dogara, said the performance shows FCT SOMLP for R team’s capacity to achieve set goals, with room for improvement.
Meanwhile, no fewer than 900,000 children under the age of five are to be immunised against polio in the first round of 2018 vaccination in the FCT.
