Foundation unveils programme for Ateke tom’s 60th birthday celebrations

The Board of Trustees of the King Ateke Tom Foundation (KATF) has unveiled programmes for the 60th birthday celebrations of the monarch of the Okochiri Kingdom, Rivers State.

Speaking in Umuahia, the Director General of the foundation, Innocent Madu, said that the body was collaborating with the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to ensure a befitting 60th birthday for the monarch, which is expected to attract over 1,000 persons from across the country.


Other activities lined up at the event billed to hold from May 31 to June 2, 2024 at the Okochri Kingdom Hall, is the sensitisation of youths and the public on drug abuse and its negative impact on the society.

He said the theme of the opening day programme is ‘Breaking chains, building hope, empowering communities against drug abuse,’ while the second day would feature free medical outreach that includes presentations and discussions on common prevalent health issues, preventive measures and healthy lifestyles. It has the theme ‘Healthy living for all, empowering communities through wellness.’

Madu said the birthday celebrations would hold on the third day with the monarch expected to receive goodwill messages from well-wishers, while participants and other guests would be refreshed and entertained by various cultural groups at the kingdom’s hall.

The KATF boss said the activities would be attended by top government officials, traditional rulers and politicians from across the country.
