The master printmaker and renowned sculptor, Prof. Bruce Onobrakpeya recently at Agbarha-Otor, appraised the ‘Art of the Delta’ programme he mentors, which graduated 60 talented artists from the Niger Delta.

Through the programme many Niger Delta youths have been equipped with advanced knowledge in their respective artistic field.

The Art of the Delta programme, according to Onobrakpeya, is a special art training programme sponsored by Shell Petroleum Development Company in collaboration with the Bruce Onobrakpeya Foundation (BOF).

The programme, it was learnt, is the second session of the 17th Harmattan workshop which brought together over 60 trainees from six regions where Shell extracts mineral oil in Delta state.

Onobrakpeya said BOF is a non-governmental organization founded in 1998 and dedicated to the development of arts and culture.

“We have successfully conducted 17 annual programmes, turning out over 1,500 beneficiaries, some of whom are university students, teachers and professionals. Many of the graduates are drawn from local communities,” he said.
