Harris Dredging, Eyitayo Ilori refute allegations of wrongdoing

Harris Dredging Ltd and Chief Eyitayo Ilori have refuted allegations of wrongdoing arising from the conflict over the ownership of a parcel of land in the community area of NICON Town.

In the publications of The Guardian of March 18 and April 8, 2024, entitled: “Caveat Emptor,” NICON Town Management Company Plc and IFL Ventures Ltd had respectively accused the management of Harris Dredging Ltd and Chief Ilori of appropriation of land and wrongful possession of a Deed of Sublease title.

They had further alleged that “the land is jointly owned by the three promoters of NICON Lekki Ltd, IFL Ventures Ltd and Harris Dredging Ltd”.

However, describing the allegations as “completely unfounded and false,” Harris Dredging Ltd and Chief Ilori, through their lawyer, Oludele Delano (SAN) of Akindelano Legal Practitioners, stated that it is a fact of common knowledge that the land registered as No. 76 Pg 76 Vol. 2349 constituting the subject matter of the above-stated publications solely belongs to Harris Dredging Ltd.

According to Delano, “The truth is that our client’s ownership (of) the land has been notified to the whole world since at least 2020 when its title was duly registered. Ever since, our client has asserted its rights to the land to the knowledge of all and sundry within the Nicon Town Estate Community.

“Consequently, the allegations of a surreptitious conversion or appropriation of the land by our client (are false). The “other promoters” of which the (publications claim) are fictitious, and obviously made up to fuel the author’s delusion.”
