Less than two weeks after a peaceful election of its officials, a leadership crisis may have erupted in the AlaIgbo Development Foundation (ADF), as its founding National President, Emeritus Prof. Uzodinma Nwala, yesterday, announced the suspension of eleven officials of the organisation, including the newly elected National President, who is a former National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Ukachukwu Awuzie.

Others suspended by Nwala, who addressed a press briefing at the secretariat of the organisation in Enugu, include the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), Bishop Obi Onubuogu; newly elected Deputy President, Dr. Jerry Chukwuokolo, and newly elected Secretary General, Abia Onyeike.

Also suspended by Nwala are the Chairman of the Business Committee, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, the Legal Adviser, Max Ozoaka; the Financial Secretary, Dr. Nath Agu, I.K Nwandu, Izu Chigbo, Arinze Nwosu and Coordinator of Igbo Women Assembly, Lolo Nneka Chimezie Nwala, who had earlier dissolved the executive of the organisation, which he had led in the past 10 years, paving the way for the fresh election that was held on April 6, accused those he suspended of having engaged in conducts aimed at undermining and destroying the ADF.

Explaining that their suspension followed the report of the disciplinary committee of the foundation, Nwala, in the statement he signed with Rev. Felix Onyeise, stated that those concerned had two weeks to appear before the disciplinary committee, stressing that failure to do so could lead to expulsion from the foundation.
