JAMB extends direct entry registration by two weeks

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a two-week extension for the 2024 Direct Entry (DE) registration process.

The initial deadline of Thursday, March 28th, has been pushed back to Thursday, April 11th, 2024.

JAMB said the extension is necessary following the challenges encountered by candidates during the security screening process, implemented to tackle the “rampant and embarrassing cases of fake A’level certificates” submitted by some DE applicants.

“The Board apologises for the inconveniences caused prospective DE candidates and pledges that, going forward, the process would be made more user-friendly,” said JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin in a statement.

“However, in doing this, the Board will not compromise on its avowed determination to ensure that candidates, whose certificates were dubiously acquired are prevented from benefiting from such certificates.”

Benjamin also added that candidates, whose certificate-issuing institutions are among those on the list of institutions that have not verified their certificates despite repeated requests, would not be allowed to register without fulfilling the requirements.

He, however, disclosed that the board will hold a press conference in due course to properly brief the media.
