Kaduna govt sets up 65-man transition committee for May 29 handover

Kaduna State government has set up a 65-man 2023 transition committee, comprising nominees of the outgoing Governor Nasir El-Rufai administration and the governor-elect, Senator Uba Sani.

The committee is to be chaired by the incumbent Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, while the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet and Political Affairs, Nuhu Isyaku Buzun, will serve as secretary to the committee.


A statement by Special Adviser to Governor El-Rufai on Media and Communication, Muyiwa Adekeye, disclosed that the 65-person committee will prepare the roadmap for implementing the SUSTAIN manifesto of the incoming government, which has at its core, a governance agenda to continue the progress recorded in the state since 2015.

“The committee will also arrange the ceremonies to usher in the new government.

“The transition committee will be chaired by Balarabe Abbas Lawal, the incumbent Secretary to the State Government, who was chairman of the Transition Committee in 2015 and vice-chairman in 2019.

“Nuhu Isyaku Buzun, the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet & Political Affairs, will serve as Secretary of the committee, which will soon be inaugurated,” the statement stated.

Members of the transition committee include ACG Bashir Alhaji Abubakar (rtd), Salihu Lukman, Mohammed Bashir Saidu, Prof. Mohammed Sani Bello, Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar, Mohammed Hafiz Bayero, Lawal Samaila Yakawada, Mohammed Sani Abdullahi, Ja’afar Ibrahim Sani, Aisha Dikko, Umma K. Ahmed, Muyiwa Adekeye and Bulus Banquo Audu.

Others include Hadiza Muazu, Prof. Aminu Ladan Sharehu, Yahaya Baba Pate, Prof. Ben Gugong, Babangida Jatar, Dr. Abdulkadir Muazu Meyere, Rev. Ishaya Jangado, Prof. Maryam Abdu, Dr. Abubakar Salihu, Pastor David Adeniran, Awwal Malami, Ishaya Ayuba Ranga, Mohammed Sani, Dr. Abdul Ishaq, Ummulkhair Mukhtar, Sadiq Mamman, Mr. Umar Sani, Aminu Zaria and Chris Adapar Umar.
