J.Cole Talks Kendrick Collab, Forthcoming Album, Kanye West’s Phone Call
J.Cole who is still basking in the success of his KOD album bared it all in a 94-minute video with Angie Martinez, TIDAL’s One of One host on New York’s Power 105.1, he revealed that the highly anticipated album between him and Kendrick Lamar might not happen after all.
“We just did a few songs. Like, we did a bunch of ideas… It’s not like it’s something that’s actively happening.”
“Not because it’s never gonna happen. Just because, like… it’s not right now, and I don’t like teasing or playing the game ’cause this has been going on for a minute”, he added.
He also said that Kanye West who has been on a tweeting spree has apologized for putting his call out in the media:
“I would’ve never posted that or tell him to post that. That made me feel a certain type of way. I told him that. He apologized, for the record. I told him that it felt like you just used my name in that very quick conversation for social media and to keep your thing going, whatever you were doing. It just felt like it wasn’t sincere because of that.”
Cole continues, “When he called me he said—right off the rip—‘Man, I need you to hold me accountable. Keep me in check. Say whatever you gotta say. I need that. I feed off that.”
With KOD’s shattering records on Spotify and Apple Music, he was asked if he heard from Drake, he replied, “Yeah he text me and said I hate you.”
Also, the hip-hop artiste told the Martinez that his forthcoming album The Fall Off will be out in 2019.
Meanwhile, a new “kiLL Edward” single is in the works and definitely “sounds like the future.” And if you were wondering who Edward is, it is his stepfather’s name.
