Supermodel Maria Borges Rocks Tiffany Amber Dress To Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show
Angolan-born supermodel, Maria Borges proudly represented her continent Africa in a custom-made dress by Tiffany Amber Culture on Victoria’s Secret (VS) pink carpet in Shanghai.
After the VS fashion show, the angels headed off to the after party to celebrate, where Borges received a resounding applause from her co-supermodels Bella Hadid and Karlie Kloss as she walked in.
The model wore a strapless basil green dress and looked ready to party.
Popular for many firsts, Borges made history in November 2015 by being the first black model to ever walk in the Victoria’s Secret fashion show whilst wearing her natural afro hair. In 2017, she was the first African woman to feature on the cover of the American version of ELLE, 20 years after Sudanese model Alek Wek in 1997.
She racked another first, wearing an African brand on the pink carpet and making Tiffany Amber the first African brand to grace Victoria’s Secret pink carpet.
Although the outfit was not one of the 29 looks the Nigerian designer showcased for her diffusion line Tiffany Amber Culture’s Spring 2018 ready-to-wear collection, which was a reinvention of vintage Yoruba iro, buba and gele ensembles, it featured their signature torera hand-woven fabric which was styled with a gold turban and the highly coveted Imani belt.
The African Queen’s youthful and edgy dress had a plunging neckline and a thigh-high slit, which she put together nicely with black peep-toe heels and drop earrings as her only accessories.
She complemented her gold headwrap with gold eyeshadow and clear, glossy lips.
The VS show will be officially aired on the 28th of November.
