National Chairman of Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure, has dissolved the party’s State Executive Council in Rivers State for alleged gross anti-party activities and corruption in the management of LP funds.
He said the decision is in the interest of the party and the Obidient movement in the state that those who were at the helm of affairs in Rivers State, when its presidential mandate was openly stolen in the state should step aside until full investigation is completed on what happened on the presidential election day.
Abure, in a statement made available to newsmen, yesterday, in Port Harcourt, said the party has lost confidence in the ability of the compromised state council, led by Mr. Deinye Pepple, to lead the campaign for governorship and state House of Assembly elections on March 11, 2023.
The state chairman had earlier, at a press conference, announced the adoption of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Siminialayi Fubara, for the March 11 elections.
He urged all Obidients in Rivers State to disregard every comment made by the state chairman of the party on the election, reiterating that its candidate in Rivers, Beatrice Itubo, has the full backing of the LP as the next governor of the state.
