Matawalle commends Navy over interception of petrol products stored along Badagry creek

The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, has applauded the recent interception of 15,540 litres of petrol stored along Badagry Creek in Lagos by the Nigerian Navy.

Matawalle also commended the Navy for defending the nation’s territorial waters.

The minister was speaking shortly after gracing the Nigerian Navy Regimental Dinner Night, at the Armed Forces Officers’ Mess, at the weekend.

According to him, “the recent interception of 15,540 litres of petrol stored in a building along Badagry creeks, by the Forward Operating Base (FOB) of the Nigerian Navy in Badagry, Lagos State, was highly commendable.”


Matawalle said that “the administration of President Bola Tinubu is doing everything possible to support military operations to effectively and efficiently convert insurgency and other forms of criminality across the country.”

“He the President has very good plans to renew the hopes of Nigerians and appealed to all and Sundry to exercise patience and support the president in tackling the huge challenges the present government inherited when it took over power about seven months ago.”

The Minister also thanked all the retired Navy officers and men, for diligently serving the nation and wished them happy and prosperous retired life.


Matawalle who was also the former Governor of Zamfara State was received at the occasion by the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, who served as the Chief host for the event.

Notable amongst the dignitaries who attended the dinner included the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, among others.

The event served as a platform to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of retired officers to the Nigerian Navy and the nation at large.
