NDE gives N2.5m agric empowerment loan to Bauchi youths


The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has disbursed the sum of N2.5 million to 50 unemployed youths as part of its 2023 Community-Based Agricultural Empowerment Scheme (CBAES) in Bauchi state.


The Directorate said that each of the 50 beneficiaries has been given a loan of N50,000 to set up and manage small scale farm enterprises in their chosen areas of interest. The Director General (DG) of NDE, Nuhu Fikpo made this known in Bauchi on Tuesday during the flagging-off ceremony of the orientation for the beneficiaries.

Fikpo, represented by the State Coordinator of NDE, Lawan Yaya, said the beneficiaries were selected across the 20 Local Government Areas of the state.

According to him, the beneficiaries were effectively trained under the 2023 Community-Based Agricultural Empowerment Scheme of the NDE. The DG said that this would enable them to become self-reliant, create wealth and generate employment opportunities for others.


He explained that the programme took place across 12 states of the federation. “The Rural Employment Promotion Department, through its strategy of training in modern Agricultural skills and empowerment in agribusiness engagements, is one of the core programme departments.

The loan has a moratorium of six months and spans through a duration of three years.
