Again, armed men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen unleashed terror on Kaduna State yesterday, when they attacked two villages in Birnin Gwari Local Government council.

On the after math of the attack, 10 people were feared dead, while scores of wounded victims rushed for urgent medical treatment at the General Hospital.

This is just as, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Labaran Maku, expressed shock over the havoc wrecked on Tiv communities by Fulani militias in Nasarawa State.

Maku, who visited one of the Internally Displaced Persons’ (IDP) camps in Awe local government, yesterday to sympathize and distribute relief materials to victims, said: “I am ashamed of my state and my country, because in a country where democracy is practiced people are being chased and slaughtered in their ancestral homes for no just cause by so-called herdsmen.

“I feel traumatized over what is happening in the north central and northeast Nigeria, which used to be the center of peace, but has now become a killing field of human beings.”

Maku expressed worry over the incessant killings in Benue, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kaduna and Taraba, regretting that the states have come under sustained attacks by herdsmen and have left scores dead and thousands displaced.

He described the murder of over 28 people and displacement of over eighteen thousand people in the state as war, even as he pleaded with Tivs in the state, who were affected not to embark on any form of retaliations.

The attack by the armed herdsmen in Kaduna State occurred in Dangaji village and Ungwan Gajere, Friday night and lasted till yesterday, during which they reportedly unleashed terror and burnt down homes of the villagers.

An eyewitness, who is also an inhabitant of the community in Birnin
Gwari said: “After they burnt the villagers’ houses, the last victim was rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately he died on the way to the hospital. Right now, all the villagers have fled and scattered into other communities, where they can find shelter.”
