Workers of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration (NAFDAC) yesterday halted operational activities at the Abuja headquarters of the agency.

The workers restricted movement into and out of the premises and denied the acting Director-General, Mrs. Yetunde Oni, access to her office.

It was gathered that the development was in continuation of a protest against the management of the agency. The workers had disrupted operations at the headquarters of the agency since last week when they began their protest.

The acting DG was seen making a call on her phone in front of the gate, which was under heavy padlock. When approached for comment on the reason the premises was under lock and key, she declined. A few minutes later, a team of armed policemen arrived at the scene, apparently in response to her call.

The officers forced the lock open to grant Oni access into the premises. They cordoned off the area to deny the protesting workers access. Another truckload of mobile policemen was brought as reinforcement.

Buhari should sack the woman quickly. She’s just serving her own interest alone.
