Atamu plans N10b fund to develop Urhoboland

Ughelli mapAtamu Social Club, a pan-Urhobo group of professionals, has pledged to set up a N10 billion fund to support projects capable of driving sustainable economic development of the Urhobo nation.

In a related development, members of the club have urged sacked factional leaders of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Chiefs Joe Omene and Tuesday Onoge, to accept the dissolution of their executive committees as a necessary part of efforts to reposition the Urhobo people.
In a communiqué issued at the end of its three-day retreat in Lagos, the club said it is embarking on the N10 billion Urhobo Trust Fund as a demonstration of its belief that it is time for the people to stop lamenting their woes and come up with workable strategies to turn their fortunes around.

The communiqué signed by the President and the Secretary General, Messrs Johnson Agagbo and Benson Uwheru respectively, urged the people to take responsibility for their well-being rather than the persistent complaints of government’s failure to address their challenges.
