Church to hold summit on climate change, support anti-open grazing law
To protect the environment and achieve the 2030 Global Warming targets as captured in the recent Paris Agreement, the leadership of the Christian Reformed Church, Nigeria (CRC-N) has planned to host a two- day summit on climate change.
In six-point communiqué issued by the church on Sunday at the end of its 114 General Council Meeting held in Taraba State, the leaders agreed to “ adopt the church management’s proposal to host a two-day summit on climate change in 2018.”
The communiqué, which was jointly signed by the President, Rev. Caleb O.S Ahima and its Secretary General, Rev. Sagara Gargea Nuvalga, agreed that the proposed summit, which was scheduled for the first quarter of next year, would take place in Takum.
The church leaders also commended the actualisation of the anti- open grazing law.
They believe that the law, when fully implemented, would stop the clash between farmers and grazers.
