Council boss empowers 150 widows to mark 100 days

The chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Shamsudeen Abiodun Olaleye, has empowered 150 widows, elderly and physically-challenged persons as part of activities to mark his 100 days in office.

The event, which held on Monday at the council secretariat, witnessed about 150 persons comprising of the elderly, widows and physically-challenged persons receiving the sum of N10,000 and food items.

The council boss noted that besides fulfilling his campaign promise, the endowment programme serves as cushion to reduce the burden of self-sustainership on the widows, elderly and the physically-challenged members of the council area.

Giving an insight into his first 100 days in office, Olaleye said: “Recently we organised the first batch of the bursary award scheme in which 100 indigene and indigent students from Isolo LCDA benefitted. The students received N25,000 each.” On roads and infrastructure, the council boss popularly known as Shammeh disclosed that his administration had repaired some linking roads to decongest traffic along the popular Mushin Road. They include Aderinto, Akindehinde, Holy Saviours, Shonibare, Nureni and Kogberegbe streets.

The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to God and thanked Olaleye for putting smiles on their faces. Mudashiru Musa, a resident of Ishagatedo area of Isolo, thanked the council boss for extending a helping hand to the downtrodden.
