Court orders Aregbesola to provide records of Osun finances
The Chief Judge of Osun State, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo, has granted an order of mandamus compelling Governor Rauf Aregbesola to provide necessary information in respect of the state’s debt profile and its defrayment modality.
The order came on the heels of an application by a human rights lawyer, Mr. Kanmi Ajibola, pursuant to Order 40, Rule 3 of the state judiciary.
The applicant also urged the court to compel the governor to provide a detailed list of all capital projects executed by his administration since November 26, 2010 when he took over the helms of affairs in the state.
Besides, the applicant has sought an order compelling Aregbesola to provide information about the financial cost of all the capital projects executed so far by his government.
Ajibola also got an order of the court directing the governor to tender evidence of the lodgement of the Contributory Pension Scheme into the Contributory Retirement Savings.
Interestingly, Aregbesola is yet to be represented in colour since May 12, 2016 when the suit was filed.
The development notwithstanding, the judge went ahead to grant the reliefs.
