Don wants Buhari to engage technocrats to bail Nigeria from recession
Prof Uche Igwe of Department of International Relations, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to engage technocrats that will bail the country from the current economic recession.
Igwe told the the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Monday when he reacted to the state of the nation that there was need for round pegs being put in round holes for Nigeria to survive the recession unhurt.
According to him, it is high time Buhari reshuffles his cabinet to accommodate experts that have the knowledge of making the economy to grow.
“The issue of party loyalists manning positions of authority should be discarded for we all are all Nigerians. The best among equals are to be put no matter their party affiliation,” he said.
Igwe extols the virtue of Mr President, but insisted that technocrats should be brought in from far and near to make his tenure remarkable.
“There is no way President Buhari can make the economy progress when he has some mediocre at sensitive position even when we know that he is a good man.
“In the developed world, such mediocre will throw in the towel which is not the case here in Nigeria they will rather ground the economy rather than resigning.
“It takes courage to get such people out of the way for the country to progress, which I know our president has,” he said.
