The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC)has quizzed former governor of Borno state, Ali Modu Sheriff over his alleged involvement in the sharing of N23.3 billion election funds distributed by former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Deziani Allison Madueke.

Sheriff who is believed to have got N40 million of the fund was grilled for seven and a half hours by EFCC operatives at the Maiduguri zonal office yesterday.

An operative who confided in The Guardian stated that “he reported for questioning at 10am and was released at 5:30pm on administrative bail”.

Sheriff allegedly got N40 million from the N450 million disbursed for sharing in Borno state. The amount was for security purpose.

This will be the second corruption allegation against Sheriff by the EFCC.

The first involves N300 billion state allocations during the eight years he was governor of the state.

This case is still under investigation by the EFCC.
