Ex-AG, 32 others sue Al-Makura over alleged plan to sell state assets
The immediate past Attorney-General of Nasarawa State, Innocent Lagi and 31 other concerned citizens of the state have sued Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura to court over alleged plan to sell the state’s assets.
The state Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Francis Orogu, who made the disclosure at the party’s secretariat in Lafia yesterday, said the decision became unavoidable because of the intention behind the sale of the assets.
According to him: “A group of concern citizens of the state that have right to call government to order at any time, decides to take legal step to stop the government from embarking on the sale of state-owned property.
“The reasons the government of the day is giving for disposing off the inherited assets located in Lagos, Kaduna, Abuja and Jos are not enough. These assets are state collaterals but the governor wants to sell the property to himself and his cronies.”
“We did not go to court as a party but we went to court as concerned citizens and I am the one who led the team of 32 others, including the former attorney-general of the state who served under this present administration, Innocent Lagi.”
