Flood takes over Lekki-Epe Expressway

lekkiMotorists and Lekki-Ajah residents of Lagos State, especially those in Awoyaya, Lakowe and Ibeju-Lekki axis were yesterday exposed to untold hardship as the entire area was submerged with flood.

The torrential rain that started on Monday evening continued till yesterday evening, causing huge traffic gridlock. The entire stretch of the Lekki-Epe Expressway became waterlogged, thus making movement an arduous experience.

The situation, according to the residents, becomes aggravated as a result of neglect of some portion of the highway, especially since the state government canceled the Lekki-Epe Expressway concession agreement with the then contractor, Lekki Concessing Company (LCC).

“Besides, activities of trucks conveying sand is also another factor, but it is time that governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, mobilises contractor to site and do the necessary reconstruction work,” urged Alhaji Ayuba, a community leader in the area.
