Fulani herdsmen to get registered at Nigerian borders, says Northern Governors’ Forum

Herdsmen
The Northern Governors’ Forum (NGF) says it has resolved to work with relevant stakeholders to secure Nigeria’s borders and register Fulani immigrants entering into the country to rear cattle.

The Chairman of the Forum, Alhaji Kashim Shettima of Borno, disclosed this to newsmen at the end of the forum’s meeting in Kaduna.

The governors, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), observed that most of the herdsmen involved in issues of insecurity are immigrants from Senegal and Mali.

“We also mapped out new strategies that would be used by the local Fulani herdsmen to rear their cattle without having to move across the country,” he said.

The Chairman emphasized the need for every Nigerian to see security as his or her business, pointing out that the nation would remain backward if there was no peace.

On the indigene and settler dichotomy, the governor said that there was a push by the forum towards national integration and cohesion so that every Nigerian could conveniently settle in any part of the country without suffering any form of discrimination.

“Some of the past governors of Kano State, like the late Sabo Bakin Zawo, from Niger and Ibrahim Shekarau, from Borno were not indigenes technically, but were assimilated and even attained the highest office in Kano,” he observed.

He acknowledged that the country was experiencing lots of challenges, particularly in the northern region, but expressed optimism that things would get better.

The joint meeting, which had northern traditional council of emirs and chiefs in attendance, discussed issues of insecurity, the management of common assets and measures to move the region to greater heights.

that is unconstitutional and against ecowas and au guarantee free movement of citizens of member countries…

    • Blunt Arrow

Every body should be allowed to move freely but those bringing in animal should show evidence that they have a ranch that can support their stock for the duration of their stay. They should equally have a well detailed plan on how they intend to move the animal to their ranch in such a manner that it will not trespass on other peoples properties. etc.
ECOWAS, AU and UN are equally against trespassing and forceful entry.

what do you mean by such discriminatory and spurious nonsense like…they have a ranch…the whole of eastern region is conquered territory…cant we graze there in peace?

        • Blunt Arrow

          Conquered when and by who?
The only conquered territory I know of is the north east. They are conquered by Islamic fanatic like you and as I write, disease, hunger and violence are gradually wiping out what remained.

where you call biafra surrendered in 1970 and signed an armistice handing over all the land to us…go and check…

          • Blunt Arrow

Who exactly is the us? The two gentlemen, Obasango and Gowon?
            They are not cattle beasts.
I don’t think you know the meaning of conquest and by who.

          • Iskacountryman

            who sent them?

          • Blunt Arrow

Looks like you are still asleep.
I’m very sure that you don’t know when power was actually removed from the hands of the caliph.

are you sure?…did you not see the sultan visit enugu to inspect his territory…

what I saw was a drowning man trying to cling to something in order to appear relevant

          • Iskacountryman

did you not see all those red cap chiefs genuflecting to the sultan?

          • Blunt Arrow

Red cappies will always come out to welcome any one. Even an honorable concilors who, from all indications, are still higher than the sultan.
You just have to accept that the sultan’s influence was blown to pieces with the Biafran buckets and buried by those two fine gentlemen and his current attempt to regain them will forever remain what it is. An illusion.
It is laughable to talk about the meeting of 19-northern governors. If they have anything in common why then did some of them invite and pay strengers to come and kill some of theirs and take over their properties.
To tell you the truth, the only advantage of this PMB administration is that it exposed all the hidden agenda for them to be distroyed.

Its high time our Fulani brothers choose country over tribe.
It is unfortunate that for them the right of a fellow countryman comes second to the right of a non-countryman Fulani.

“On the indigene and settler dichotomy, the governor said that there was a push by the forum towards national integration and cohesion so that every Nigerian could conveniently settle in any part of the country without suffering any form of discrimination.”
The above can only be possible if we have just one law- The constitution of FRN.
