The Gombe State House of Assembly has passed a budget of N76.80 billion for the 2016 fiscal year.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Chief Information Officer of the Assembly, Alhaji Abubakar Umar, on Thursday in Gombe.

The statement said that the budget was passed following the adoption of the recommendations of the House Committee on Appropriation during the plenary.

It stated that the budget reflected an increase of N257.19 million compared to the initial proposal presented to the Assembly.

According to the statement, the Chairman of the Committee, Mr Solomon Jisimah, said that the budget was made up of capital expenditure of N34 .57 billion and recurrent expenditure of N42.60 billion.

It said that the Assembly approved the recommendations of the committee that the Fire Service Office should be established in all the local government headquarters of the state.

“That all revenue generating organisations like Gombe Line and Hotels owned by the state should be remitting their revenues and lease fees to the state government’s coffers.

“That all privates business operators and filling stations should henceforth pay ground rent to the state as and when due in order to boost internally-generated revenue in the state,’’ the statement said.

It said that the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasiru Nono commended the committee and urged the Executive to ensure effective implementation of the budget.

The statement said that Nono called on the standing committees of the Assembly to maintain the spirit of diligence in implementation of the budget.
