Group gives succour to 12,000 women

Pastor (Mrs.) Siju Iluyomade

In line with the give-back initiative of Arise Women, the founder and wife of the Pastor in Charge of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Region 20, Pastor (Mrs.) Siju Iluyomade and her group, recently provided over 12,000 Nigerians with basic needs and medical support.

Iluyomade, at the ninth edition of its women conference, which began in 2009, said the event has positively changed lives and improved the quality of life of the everyday woman.

She said the aim of the group was to alleviate the plights of women and other vulnerable persons in society, adding that Arise Women “is committed to building a great nation through its women by empowering them financially as well as exposing them to knowledge and training through skill acquisition.”

During the Arise Women Conference 2017, a medical team also attended to the sick by providing free medical screening for diabetes, cancers, eye, blood level and blood pressure among others.

The event with the theme: “Rebranded for Christ” witnessed a large turnout of women and persons from Lagos and its environs. Special Guest of Honour was wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, Guest Minister was Pastor (Mrs.) Sarah Omakwu of Family Ministry International (Africa).

Other dignitaries included wife of Lagos State governor, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode; wife of Kwara State governor, Mrs. Omolara Ahmed; wife of Imo State governor, and Mrs. Nneoma Rochas Okorocha.

A widow and beneficiary, who did not want her name mentioned, told The Guardian she benefitted from free medical consultation and was given a pair of eye- glasses.

She also urged the federal, state and local councils to implement palliative programmes for widows and vulnerable children in the society.
