Group trains LG workers, artisans on informal sector tax

Community Life Project has trained local government workers, community leaders and artisans in Oshodi Local Government Area (LGA) and Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on the importance of paying tax.

Speaking during an advocacy and technical meeting on informal sector taxation in Lagos State, Deputy Director, Community Life Project, Mr. Chuks Ojidoh, said the programme was put together to train people in the informal sector on the significance of paying tax and why government must be held accountable.

Ojidoh said his organisation deals with grassroots people and constantly trains them on how to relate with the local government.

Olalekan Omoseye, from Aswani Mechanic Village, said the meeting discussed how much artisans needed to pay to avoid multiple taxations. He added that the event was an opportunity to address the issue of touts in tax collection.
