Worried by the increasing traffic and social problems created by the location of the Timber Market in Orlu, Imo State, the state government has given the traders deadline of March 7, 2016, to relocate to Umuowa, a community in the area.

In a statement signed by the Principal Secretary to the state Governor, Dr. Paschal Obi, the decision was said to be in the interest of all, urging them to follow the directive within the stated time.

In another development, the first rain witnessed in the state last week, with attendant whirlwind, has wreaked havoc on many communities, including the state capital, Owerri.

The Guardian gathered that residents of rural areas are counting losses as a result of damages done to their buildings and properties.

The Customary court in Owerri was not spared as parts of the building were destroyed. Inspecting parts of the building, the Secretary to the State Government, Jude Ejiogu, who decried the incident, said government would take a proactive step to remedy the situation.
