Kwara youths undergo Agro-Business training

The Agricultural Research and Management Training Institute (ARMTI) Ilorin has commenced training of youths in the state on how to create wealth through the growth and sale of cassava.

ARMTI Director, Olufemi Oladunni said the concept of Cassava Value Chain Development (CVCD) a creation of the institute, where selected cassava growers polled resources together from the level of planting through the level of sales of the product to the point of profits sharing, had in the recent years, become a catalyst for wealth creation among the practitioners.

Therefore, he believes that the concept should be inculcated into the nation’s younger generation towards a drastic reduction in the numbers of unemployment among the youths and as an addition to the values of food generations in Nigeria.

Oladunni spoke yesterday at Oke Ero in Oke Ero Local Government Area (LGA) of Kwara state during the training of 40 youths drawn across some towns within the council in the practices of the concept of the CVCD.

The spokesman for the consulting firm, Dr O. A. Ogunjirin, said the programme was borne out of the dire need of government’s desire to equip youths with relevant skills in business development and management, which was needed for sustaining agriculture in the country.
