Lagos to phase out obsolete textbooks with e-platforms

e-platformsLagos State Government said that to ensure students and pupils in public schools compete with their colleagues globally, it has concluded arrangements to phase out obsolete textbooks and learning processes with the introduction of e-platforms.

Speaking at the flag-off, with the theme, ‘Teaching in the age of communication’s technologies’, the Commissioner for Establishment, Training and Pensions, Dr Akintola Benson Oke, noted that with technology, the problem of reliance on obsolete textbooks that are not regularly updated would be a thing of the past.

He also noted that with the help of technology, course curriculum can reflect real world data and in some applications, students can be exposed to real-time information.

He also pleaded with teachers to ensure that they use social components of existing communication technologies to motivate students and ensure healthy competition among students. Oke further said that the state government intends to continually upscale the knowledge skills and attitude of teachers for optimal service delivery.
